A Muslim Wedding.
I spend a fair proportion of my time in the UK photographing weddings and although I have previously photographed a Hindu wedding, to date have never been commissioned to cover a Muslim one. In March and April I was in Ethiopia shooting stock images. One day when travelling in the Eastern Highlands we rounded a bend on a mountain road miles from anywhere to find the road completely blocked by a large group of youngsters. We drew to a halt just as the groom had arrived at the brides home to collect her and a crowd of their friends were there to join in the festivities. Unlike in the west these celebrations were fuelled by nothing more than happiness. They were as surprised to see me there as I was to see them and thankfully the whole crowd were keen on including a faranji photographer in the party. I wish them a long and happy life together.
