Neither is Gardening.
We moved into our current home about five years ago. My wife, being an avid gardener, set about redesigning the garden and has completely transformed it from a fairly standard lawn and border configuration into a classic cottage garden complete with pergolas, gazebo, arbour seats etc. The structures are now covered in roses, clematis, honeysuckle and wisteria. New beds are full to bursting point in her signature pastel colours.
I love gardens - but frankly loath gardening. I get great pleasure from sitting in a shady corner with a glass of something chilled just looking at it. I was busy doing just that when the Head Gardener reminded me that, as we are planning another house move, it would be a good idea if I took some images of the plants. Plant photography is a highly specialised subject and, I reminded her, is not my area of expertise. Her response was a measured .... neither is gardening. The narrowing of her eyes suggested that it would be in my interests to finish my wine and go get a camera. The following shots are the result.... ( I am happy to say marital harmony is restored and I am now on a second glass of the cool stuff ).
